I wrote an earlier blog on How to Ask for Testimonials from your Clients which talked about why and how you ask for testimonials. I thought I would expand on this a bit, and go into detail of what questions you might get your clients to answer if they are unsure.
1. Who they are and what their Business is (if relevant)
If you are a B2B (Business to Business) business, this questions will help establish who is reviewing your product / service and their importance.
You can try the below template:
“Hi I’m (Name) from (Business) and we have been (offering service / product) for (amount) years.
2. Why did they need the product or service
Ask your client to answer why they were in need of your product or service. This demonstrates a problem that you can solve.
You can try the below templates:
“We were struggling with (issue) and needed someone to (fix the problem)”
or
“We were in need of a (great product) to help us (improve our service)”
3. Why did they choose your business or service
This is an important question to answer. This lets people know what sets your business apart from the rest and what makes you the top choice.
You can try the below template:
“We chose (your business name / your name) because (reason)”
4. Would they recommend your business and why?
I know a testimonial is a recommendation, but there is no harm in telling people anyways!
You can try the below template:
“We would recommend (your business name) and recommend that you use them too.”
5. Anything else you would like to add?
Open the floor to your client or customer to add any extra comments or feedback that they might like to add.
Testimonials are important part of gaining trust of new and potential clients. So if you have the opportunity to gain an in depth review from clients, make sure you do so. And most importantly, don’t forget to ask!
